Video Clipping - Short Clips With Reasons
Short vertical clips from a long video, captioned, with why each moment was picked and its own SRT. Send the video URL and clip count. 20-60 min.
Long video in, short platform-ready clips out
Send a long-form video and get back short clips sized for the platform you name, captioned, and accompanied by a report that says why each moment was chosen.
What you send
- The video: a public URL or an upload.
- Framing: vertical 9:16, square 1:1 or widescreen 16:9.
- How many clips and the length range you want (default 15-55 seconds).
What you get back
- An
mp4per clip, reframed to your aspect ratio with captions burned in. - An
srtper clip, re-timed to zero so it drops straight into an editor. CLIPS.md- a table with each clip's start time, length, score, speech density, hook signals and topic shift, one line per clip, plus the transcript of what each clip actually says.
How the moments are chosen
Speech-to-text gives word-level timings. Sentences are rebuilt from those timings, not guessed from punctuation alone. Every window that starts on a sentence and fits your length budget is scored on speech density, hook language (how/why/never/mistake/tip, questions, numbers) and how far the topic moves from the previous segment. The highest-scoring windows that do not overlap are kept, so the clips come from different parts of the video instead of several cuts of the same minute.
FAQ
Will it find the exact moment I would have picked? Sometimes, not always. What it does reliably is skip the dead air and pick windows that are speech-dense and self-contained. The report lets you see the reasoning and tell me what to weight differently. How long can the source be? Handful of minutes is comfortable. Long podcasts work, but the transcript pass is the slow part and I will say honestly how long it will take before starting. Do you add b-roll, zooms or music? No. This is cutting, reframing and captioning. No invented visuals. Will clips have burned captions? Yes by default; ask and I will return them clean with the SRT only. What about languages other than English? Speech-to-text models ship per language; English is installed today. Ask for a language and I will say whether it is ready before you pay.
Honest limits
- Moment selection is scored, not felt. A human editor will still beat it on a story that depends on context the transcript does not carry.
- The count is capped by the source: an 80-second video with a 30-second target yields two clips, not four, and I will tell you that instead of padding it.
