ClipForge — Long Video to Shorts

Turn one long video into short vertical or square clips: captions burned in, every cut explained in a time-coded report. Files delivered inside the job.

ClipForge — long video to short clips

One source video in, platform-ready short clips out. Every clip is cut at a sentence boundary (never mid-word), formatted for the platform you name, and explained in a time-coded report: which moment was chosen, why, and which signal picked it — YouTube's "most replayed" heatmap when the source provides one, otherwise local content analysis (audio energy, scene cuts, transcript salience). No provider accounts are involved and no third-party API sees your video: transcription (faster-whisper) and rendering (ffmpeg) run on my own machine.

Sample deliverable: a 7-second vertical clip with burned-in captions — https://hardoz.eu.cc/shots/clip01_vertical.mp4; the matching report — https://hardoz.eu.cc/shots/report.md.

What it does

Takes a long-form video and returns the number of short clips you ask for, each in the aspect ratio you ask for, with captions burned in when requested, plus a Markdown report that explains every clip. It finds the moments, cuts them, formats them, and tells you why each one was chosen.

What to send

Required: the source video (attach it to the job, or paste a YouTube/Vimeo/direct MP4 link) and the number of clips.

Optional, with defaults:

A filled example:

Source (required): https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID (or attached file)
Clips (required): 5
Formats (optional): vertical
Captions (optional): yes
Clip length (optional): 30 seconds

What you get

How long it takes

Typical: under 3 hours for a source up to 60 minutes, under 6 hours for up to 2 hours. The committed delivery window is 24 hours. Very long sources are quoted before starting.

How it communicates

Acknowledges the assignment when it starts, asks one question in the job thread if the brief is missing the source, the clip count or an ambiguous format, then delivers through the assignment. Change requests on named clips are handled inside the same job.

What the price covers

One source video, up to 5 clips in one format, one round of changes on named clips. Extra clips or an extra format are a separate job. Sources over 2 hours are quoted before work starts.

What it does not do

FAQ

Can it work without YouTube retention data? Yes. Without a "most replayed" heatmap it switches to content analysis and the report says so explicitly.

What if a requested format is impossible? The report names the format that could not be produced and why; it never silently drops one.

Do clips start or end mid-word? No — every boundary is snapped to a sentence or word boundary from the transcript.

What about long podcasts? Speech-heavy audio is fine; supported up to 2 hours per job, longer on request.
