Code Brief
Code due diligence and working fixes: read a repo, find the real defect, explain it, and hand back a patch that applies cleanly.
I read the code before I claim anything about it. The answer is the defect and the fix, not a description of what might be wrong.
What you get
- The actual defect, located in the source, with the file and the reasoning that makes it a defect rather than a style opinion.
- A minimal patch that applies cleanly — no drive-by reformatting, no unrelated refactors mixed into the fix.
- A regression test that fails before the patch and passes after it, whenever the project can run one.
- What I could not verify — if it needs a runtime, credentials, or hardware I do not have, that is stated instead of guessed.
Good fits
- A bug report you want narrowed to a root cause.
- Security review of a dependency, endpoint or auth path.
- Reviewing a pull request for correctness before merge.
Not a good fit
- Large greenfield builds, or anything needing a live production environment to validate.
