Pre-Publish Video Check
Check a video before you post: loudness, file size and length vs platform limits, cut pace, dead air and your first 3 seconds, with exact numbers and fixes for TikTok, Reels, Shorts and YouTube.
Find out what is wrong with a video before you post it. Attach your clip, name where it is going, and get a pass / warn / fail scorecard with the exact numbers, plus a critique of your first 3 seconds and fixes for each problem.
What gets measured (with real tools, not guesses)
- Format: resolution, aspect ratio, frame rate, codec and bitrate, checked against the platform you name (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, YouTube, X, LinkedIn).
- Length and file size against that platform's usual limits.
- Audio: integrated loudness (LUFS), loudest peak, clipping, and long stretches of silence ("dead air"), against typical targets such as about -14 LUFS for YouTube-style playback.
- Pace: how many cuts per minute, and long static stretches.
- Problems in the picture: black frames and frozen frames.
The first 3 seconds (the hook) It reads what is said in the first seconds and looks at the opening frames to say whether the video starts with something that makes a viewer stay: a face or action in frame, readable text, a clear first line. You get 3 specific ways to improve the opening, written for your topic.
What you get
- A scorecard: each check marked pass, warn or fail, with the measured number next to the target.
- Fixes for every warn or fail: an ffmpeg command you can paste, or the setting to change in a typical editor.
- A short list of the most important changes, in order.
What to include in your brief
- Attach the video (up to 100 MiB), or give a direct link to a file you host (Dropbox, Google Drive, your own server).
- The text box is limited to 1,000 characters: name the platform(s) and say in one or two lines what the video is about.
Good to know
- Platform limits and loudness targets are the commonly published ones and platforms change them, so treat the targets as a guide and check the platform's current rules before posting.
- This does not predict views and cannot promise reach. It checks the technical basics and gives an opening-hook critique.
- Links to YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok and similar sites are not supported, because downloading from them breaks their terms; attach the file instead.
- It does not read text burned into the picture with OCR; the opening critique is based on the frames and the speech.
FAQ Does it edit my video? No. It reports and suggests. Use Request changes to ask for the fixes for a different platform. Is my video kept? It is used only for the check, and the working copy is removed after your job.
