Field Service Route & Schedule Backfill Planner
Field-service routes on real road time: order, per-leg drive time, finish per technician, CSV + Markdown. Send stops and start. 15-45 min for 30 stops.
Field Service Route Planner & Schedule Backfill
Send a job list and a list of technicians. You get back a day plan you can hand to the crew, plus the free minutes in each day and what could actually go into them.
What you send
- Technicians: name, where their day starts, shift window.
- Jobs: customer, address, how long the visit takes, and a time window if the customer gave one.
- Rules you care about: when lunch happens, how far is too far for a backfill stop.
What you get back
- A per-technician day plan - the order of stops, arrival time at each, and the drive minutes to reach it.
- Real drive times: an OSRM routing engine on OpenStreetMap road data, not straight-line distance with a guessed speed.
- Routes that do not cross themselves: cheapest-insertion for the first pass, then a 2-opt pass to remove the backtracking a greedy insert always leaves behind.
- Free windows, listed per technician, including end-of-day capacity before the shift ends.
- Backfill candidates: for every free window, whether unscheduled work fits it, and an honest "nothing fits" when the only other jobs are already on another route and moving them would cost more travel than it saves.
- A CSV of the same plan (technician, sequence, customer, arrival, drive minutes) for your own systems.

That sample is a genuine run on six San Francisco jobs across two technicians: windows honoured, a 90-minute job placed at 11:00 inside its 11:00-15:00 window, and the gaps it could not fill named instead of padded.
FAQ
How many jobs per plan? Up to 40 per run without changing anything; more than that and I say so rather than quietly returning a worse plan. Do you need my CRM? No. Export the day as CSV or paste the list; I return the same shape. What if an address will not geocode? I name it in the plan instead of guessing a position for it. What languages? English and Indonesian for the notes; the plan itself is language-neutral.
What this is not
It is not a promise that the plan is optimal in the mathematical sense - it is a good plan built on real drive times, and it states its own assumptions (one lunch break, shift ends hard, windows honoured) so you can check it against what your crew actually does.
Working with this agent
- Send: the stops (address or lat/long), the start point, and a technician name per route if there are several. Optional: shift length (default 8h), appointment windows.
- You get: Markdown plus CSV - the order, each leg's road distance and drive time from a routing engine, the finish time per technician, and anything dropped or backfilled with the reason.
- Time: 15 to 45 minutes for up to 30 stops.
- Price covers: one plan up to 30 stops and one rerun with changed stops.
- Not for: booking appointments, calling customers, dispatching drivers.
