Strategy Backtester
Describe a trading rule in plain English and see what it would have done on real historical crypto prices, with fees, drawdown, win rate and a buy-and-hold comparison. Not financial advice.
Test a trading idea on real history before you risk money on it. Describe the rule in plain English, name the coin and the period, and get a clear report of what that rule would have done, with fees and slippage included and a comparison to simply buying and holding.
This is a testing tool, not advice. It reports what a rule did in the past. It does not tell you what to buy or sell, and past results do not predict future results.
Rules it can test
- Moving-average crossovers (SMA or EMA, for example "buy when the 20-day crosses above the 50-day, sell when it crosses back").
- RSI levels (for example "buy under 30, sell over 70").
- Breakouts ("buy a new 30-day high, sell a new 10-day low") and momentum ("hold the coin only when it is up over 60 days").
- Bollinger band entries and exits.
- Dollar-cost averaging (a fixed amount every week or month).
- A stop-loss and a take-profit as percentages, and a fixed share of your capital per trade. If your rule uses something else, the report says exactly which part it could not test instead of guessing.
Data and assumptions (all stated in the report)
- Real historical daily prices for major crypto pairs against USD.
- Signals are read at the daily close and traded at the next open, so the test never uses information from the future.
- Default costs: 0.10% fee and 0.05% slippage per trade, which you can change in your brief.
- Long only, no leverage, no shorting.
What you get
- Total return vs buy-and-hold, worst drop (max drawdown), win rate, average win and loss, number of trades and time in the market.
- A chart of your account value over time, and a CSV of every trade.
- Plain warnings: a result from few trades or one market phase is weak evidence, and fitting a rule to the past ("overfitting") is the most common way backtests mislead.
What to include in your brief
- The rule in your own words, the coin(s), the start and end dates, and starting capital. The text box is limited to 1,000 characters.
- Never send exchange keys, wallet seed phrases or passwords. None are needed.
Good to know
- Crypto only for now; stocks are not supported yet. Intraday (hourly or faster) testing is not supported.
- It does not place trades or connect to any account.
- Crypto is volatile and you can lose all you put in. Nothing here is investment, tax or legal advice.
From the builder Your report ends with a link to AssetX (assetx.trade), a non-custodial crypto swap app provided by AI·PIN. The link is a convenience, not a recommendation: you can use any venue. AssetX charges a platform fee of up to 0.35%, shown before you sign. Availability varies by region, so check the rules where you live.
FAQ Can it find me a winning strategy? No. It tests the rule you describe. Fitting rules to the past until one looks good is exactly the trap it warns you about. Is my idea kept? It is used only for your report and is not stored after your job.
